Tell Us a Little About Yourself…

The private school application process is quite the grueling one! It entails lots of emotional ups and downs, uncertainty, nail-biting, and an admissions interview that can only be compared to a long-drawn-out job interview.

We strive to make the task as smooth and low-stress as possible with our customizable curriculum that’s specifically outlined to meet the individual needs of your child. However, most eleven and twelve-year-olds aren’t designed to be put on the spot as they are during admissions interviews, which often times, can outweigh test scores in determining whether or not a student is accepted into the school of his/her choice.

Through years of experience, we’ve worked out a lot of the kinks and speed bumps that come along with interviewing for a private school. Here are some tips for your child to remember during a school admissions interview:

  1. Be Positive!
  2. Eye contact and a great smile go a long way.
  3. It’s not about what you say, it’s how you say it.
  4. Have a conversation.
  5. Talk about what you know.

As nervous as you may be, remember that you’ve already tackled one hurdle by getting called in for an interview. Think happy thoughts and keep the conversation going. Confidence is key, and a lot can be interpreted from your body language and answers. Sit up straight, and appear to be at easy and happy to be there. Eye contact will ensure the interviewer that you aren’t nervous, and care about what they have to say. If you feel at a loss, ask questions about the school to show your interest. And most importantly, just be yourself!
