What is the CAHSEE?
The California High School Exit Exam, or CAHSEE, is a new standardized exam given to all students in the tenth grade beginning with the class of 2006. All students must pass this exam in order to graduate from California schools. If a student does not pass the exam in the tenth grade, there are opportunities to retake the exam in both the eleventh and twelfth grades. Students are only eligible to retake part(s) of the exam not passed.
The exam consists of two parts, Language Arts and Math. The Language Arts section of the exam includes:
various forms of writing (literature critiques, business letters, expository text, grammar, sentence formation, narrative analysis of text, revision, vocabulary, research skills) reading comprehension.
The math section of the exam includes:

During the 2005-06 school year, all students in grades ten, eleven, and twelve who have yet to pass the CAHSEE will need to do so.
